  • The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining calibration records, conducting supplier audits, and supporting the test and metrology department.

Our client based in the Fareham area is looking to recruit an experienced Calibration Engineer to join their team.

Primary role is to plan, co-ordinate and complete the calibration within the company.

Ensure that all gauges are calibrated to the requirements of IATF16949 in line with an agreed timing plan and budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process owner for Calibration during internal / external audits, resolving any non-conformities that may arise.
  • Ensure that the company are meeting the calibration requirements of IATF16949.
  • With the Laboratory Facilitator plan and co-ordinate calibration using the database, whilst ensuring that all records are maintained and are easily accessible.
  • Conduct Calibration supplier audits where necessary.
  • Coordinate the retrieval / delivery of gauges to & from gauge owners in conjunction with the Laboratory Facilitator.
  • Conduct the calibration of all shop floor screw drivers where possible, communicating with the manufacturing to secure appropriate time on the equipment.
  • Undertake mechanical or electrical calibration on internal gauges with UKAS / ISO17025 accredited equipment.
  • Working with the Laboratory Facilitator ensure all equipment on the database are calibrated to respective national standards UKAS / ISO17025 and customer requirements, as appropriate.
  • Write and maintain procedures for calibration for internal calibration.
  • Manage disposition – i.e. work with gauge owners to take the necessary actions where gauges are either un-calibrated / failed calibration as per company procedures.
  • Support the test & metrology department with measurement demands.
  • Conduct regular gauge and product measurements.
  • Review calibration specifications for equipment with respect to product and process requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications as per calibration procedure.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Computer Competent, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Windows environment

EXPERIENCE

  • A strong understanding of engineering principles including metrology and measurement techniques
  • Previous experience in instrumentation calibrations to ISO standard.
  • Previous experience of working with PCDMIS or Scanning software would be an advantage.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (including Geometric tolerances)
  • To have a knowledge of Gauge Calibration and basic product testing

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Hands on calibration skills working with production to ensure equipment is accurate.
  • Basic mechanical skills (experience in the use of measuring instruments, meters, hand tools).
  • The ability to work without supervision
