We are seeking a dedicated Administrator to join our team. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will manage customer requirements for the safe and efficient transport of cargo to and from the Channel Islands, ensuring compliance with operational procedures and statutory requirements, including Health and Safety.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Communicate professionally with customers to fulfil their quotations and traffic requirements according to their booking instructions.
  • Liaise with other offices in the UK and abroad, reporting any discrepancies or specific requirements.
  • Ensure legislative compliance in all areas and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Arrange transport of cargo with approved hauliers, confirm equipment availability, and negotiate prices to maximise cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare and provide correct documentation for the loading/offloading of cargo to the Warehouse/ Haulage/ Distribution/ Shipping department in a timely manner.
  • Perform general administration tasks such as invoicing, filing, handling queries, managing claims, and checking costs as per departmental requirements.
  • Communicate efficiently with internal and external customers, suppliers, and other offices using various communication tools as required by operational procedures.
  • Plan collections or deliveries to meet customer needs effectively and efficiently, utilising all resources optimally.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Recent experience in a similar role within the customs, logistics, import export industry.
  • Strong communication skills with colleagues at all levels and external customers.
  • Ability to ensure legislative compliance and maintain operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of transport regulations and H.M. Customs regulations, where relevant.
