Operations Manager - Automotive

40,000 per annum + bonus + benefits.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Fareham, Hampshire.

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of build and repairs for a commercial vehicle garage. This role requires close interaction with customers, dealerships, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure efficient production and delivery of vehicles. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for health and safety compliance, staff management, and ensuring all production activities meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide build updates and manage last-minute changes to the build specifications.
  • Conduct on-site meetings with customers alongside the Sales Manager.
  • Estimations and quotations - these can be drive-ins.
  • Coordinate chassis deliveries and chase Certificates of Conformity (COCs).
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager and Workshop Supervisor to plan and schedule work.
  • Oversee the new build production process in coordination with the Workshop Supervisor
  • Plan and manage the paintwork process for new build vehicles.
  • Order necessary parts, including stock items (with long lead items ordered by the Director).
  • All aspects of Health & Safety.
  • Lead daily production meetings with the Workshop Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong MS Office experience.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle production processes and type approval requirements.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
