Role Description

The Production Manager is the head of a factory production floor or work area and ensures that all the different work teams in a company are running smoothly, effectively, and safely.

Dealing with and managing people, processes and work centres.  A full understanding of the appropriate industry methodologies to deliver product that meet or exceed the customer needs.

A great Production manager has excellent communication and organizational skills. Be well-versed in manufacturing & testing procedures and policies and will be able to actively discover new ways to do the job more efficiently.

The goal is to ensure all support activities are carried on efficiently and effectively to allow the other operations to function properly.

Key Responsibilities:

       Qualifications:

  • HND, BTec qualifications in business administration, or relevant business experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Technical understanding
  • A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach
  • Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Kaizen, lean manufacturing
  • Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain
  • Understanding of ISO & AS Manufacturing standards
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Powerpoint
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience

        Task Management

  • Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are maintained at all times
  • Responsible for plant production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities
  • Ensure the target productivity level is achieved on a daily basis
  • Update the production plan on a daily basis
  • Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers regarding throughput of stock to ensure production targets are met
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
  • Produce reports and appropriate presentations
  • Undertake continuous training and development reviews
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
  • Liaison with the Technical Team in the pursuance of existing product performance; to include the implementation of engineering changes on repair and overhaul activities.
  • Planning and control of repair station activities
  • Procurement and purchasing activities.
  • Maintenance of the stores and inventory activities
  • Liaison with the Quality Manager on supplier auditing
  • Liaising with other Heads in the organization and review of training activities
  • Liaise with sales in support of meeting customer requirements.
  • Taking the lead in developing the Health & Safety policy 
  • Implementation of Safety as member of the Safety Board on SMS (Safety Management Systems)
  • Deputise for the Accountable Manager under instruction when required.
