Our client, a leading company in the manufacturing and engineering sector, is currently seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their team in Fareham. This is a hands-on project engineering role, where you will be responsible for undertaking individual projects as part of a small Engineering team, allocating work, and ensuring outputs are accurate and completed to agreed timescales. The role involves providing technical support to Application Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing departments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a work schedule defining all project tasks and agreed timescales for large scale Sales Order & NPI projects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve drawings, technical specifications, reports, etc.
  • Analyse sales/customer requirements and prepare technical proposals, specifications, and drawings for tender.
  • Conduct detailed design calculations such as tolerances and basic stress analysis.
  • Develop methods and documentation for validating new products to ensure performance specifications are met.
  • Prepare detailed engineering sign-off documentation as per customer requested formats, such as data books containing evidence of compliance with relevant design standards and codes.
  • Monitor and control unit and project costs to meet profit targets and agreed budgets.
  • Conduct design reviews during the project lifetime.
  • Ensure compliance with Group CAD management standards, playing a key role in developing the CAD system, standardising and automating design processes, and maintaining the document management system.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, sales, and customers.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
  • Competent understanding of hydraulics and pneumatic theory and practice
  • CAD and 3D Solid Modelling skills
  • High degree of proficiency with Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in the entire design process from initial concept to volume production
