This is a PAYE contract role, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Role Overview: The Chemical Laboratory plays a vital role in supporting NADCAP-approved special processing operations, including metal treatments, heat treatment, welding, brazing, and NDT. This includes both internal activities and support for the supply chain and sister plants. The team, though small, possesses specialized skills in chemistry and metallurgy to maintain and verify these special processes.

Job Description: The Laboratory Technician will work within the Chemical Laboratory as part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, providing support to operations, primarily in Metal Treatments at the Titchfield site. Reporting to the Laboratory Lead, the technician will assist in achieving production goals, ensuring part quality, managing costs, and maintaining employee safety standards in the Metal Treatments production area.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze the contents of metal finishing vats to ensure they meet specifications and provide instructions to the MFD for necessary additions in accordance with Nadcap and standard procedures.
  2. Perform periodic and lot-based (ID) testing of treated samples for corrosion resistance and coating weight to ensure compliance with tank specifications.
  3. Ensure proper operation of the Effluent Plant and verify that discharges meet environmental consent limits and legal requirements.
  4. Conduct analyses of oils, fuels, and other materials in support of manufacturing and testing activities.
  5. Troubleshoot metal treatment process issues to improve production and quality outcomes.
  6. Utilize a variety of analytical techniques to identify metal alloys, coatings, and contaminants to determine the root causes of problems.
  7. Assist in maintaining Nadcap approval for chemical management at the site.
  8. Provide support in chemical and metallurgical preparation and analysis as required in the Chemi-Lab.
  9. Apply lean methodologies and problem-solving tools, including 5S and Cause and Effect analysis.
