Role:

NATS (National Air Traffic Services) are looking for a Software Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) Analyst to join their team on a contract basis. The role is to provide a combination of technical, process and business expertise to NATS Technical Services in the use of Service Management (SM), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and other toolsets to support the provision of operational ATM Technical Services.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with engineers to achieve their needs, guiding users on how to change and improve the data structures contained within the toolsets and how these map to the technical systems and business processes of NATS ATM Services.
  • Be an initial point of escalation for day-to-day issues with the supporting toolsets and the data representation held within these.
  • May participate in improvement and development projects as an expert in how the toolsets within their allocated domains and data under management inside the toolsets represents the broader ATM Services, supporting systems and the NATS business.
  • Responsible for investigating and resolving day-to-day business, process and technical incidents that arise within the allocated domain(s). Decides when escalation is required and escalates where necessary. Manages incidents from initial report to service restoration.
  • Responsible for investigating and resolving problems that occur. Carries out small scale fixes within allocated domain(s), escalates where necessary.
  • Responsible for low impact service improvements.
  • Responsible for managing packages of work within projects to deliver higher impact and larger service improvements within the allocated domain(s).
  • Responsible for Knowledge Management within the allocated domain(s) using the standard NATS tools.
  • Responsible for liaison with internal experts, internal suppliers, end users and other stakeholders.
  • By maintaining a limited knowledge of other domains, responsible for providing cover for absence of other SACM Engineers.

In some domains this job holder will be the only NATS expert in a given technology, so will be responsible for managing an external supplier or suppliers interface for escalations ad improvements within the scope to the allocated domain(s).

What we are looking for in you:

  • Relevant inventory management experience
  • Knowledge of systems relevant to domain(s) allocated, e.g. SAP, ServiceNow.
  • Experience of working with a Configuration Management Database or similar.
  • Has a demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development, both technical and personal.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly, systematically and analytically when resolving issues.
  • Proven ability to work in teams, take responsibility, delegate, plan and schedule activities efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable proactive interaction with a variety of stakeholders customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Proven history of application of continuous service improvement processes.
  • Sufficient financial knowledge to maintain an awareness of the allocated service operating budget in support of the team lead and Head of SMBO.
  • The ability to operate up to Level 4 (Enable) of the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA 8) in relevant areas (Application Support, Asset Management, Configuration Management, Data Management, Software Configuration).

Desirable skills:

  • To have some knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Service Lifecycle Management practices.
  • To hold Industry certifications relevant to the domain(s) e.g. relevant ITIL, SAP or ServiceNow certification.
