Blue Arrow is recruiting a Permanent Environmental Advisor to work with a growing Recycling Company in Lancashire.

Job Title: Environmental Advisor

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm (37.5hrs per week)

Salary: 39,500

Overtime: Monday to Saturday paid at time and a half with Sundays and Bank Holidays paid at double time.

Location: Leyland or Thornton (must be able to travel between sites)

Contract Type: Permanent

REPORTING TO: Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for providing direct support to the SHEQ Manager to achieve industry leading levels of performance in terms of environmental management and compliance in accordance with the company quality systems and all legislative requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Work in accordance with the company Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality policy, and procedures.
  • Lead, monitor and report on all site activities associated with environmental management and the MRF code of practice.

Documentation Management

  • Support in the updating of facility environmental management documentation and communications, to include the delivery of staff awareness training as required.
  • Liaise with external service providers and regulators to collate, store, and record appropriate environmental management work related documentation.
  • Effective utilisation of the company business systems (CODA, SharePoint, EPRAIS, etc.).

Environmental Inspections and Audit

  • Lead in the undertaking of environmental management & compliance audits, to include report writing and follow up of corrective actions.
  • Lead in environmental permit reporting and EA notifications.
  • Support with external audits as necessary (BSI, EA, HSE etc.)

Project Assistance

  • Carry out any other ad hoc environmental management related project work as requested by the SHEQ Manager.
  • Support in the delivery of project related activities.
  • Lead the Waste Audit Team to deliver the MRF code of practice quarterly sampling programme and communicate any regulatory changes which impacts upon the current procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Responsible for providing environmental management advisory support to site teams in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Attend business meetings and safe start sessions as scheduled.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The post holder will have direct reports:

  • Waste Auditors (x 3)

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

The post holder reports directly to the SHEQ Manager.

They will also work collaboratively with the following:

  • SHEQ team.
  • Logistics & Offtake Team.
  • Business & Finance Team.
  • Operational & Maintenance Teams.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Actively support the businesses commitment to creating a positive workplace through equity, inclusion, and diversity.

  • Be a flexible team member, with a willingness to actively participate in additional duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post.

COMMUNICATION:

  • Facilitate clear and timely communication, among all staff and departments, ensuring seamless support and guidance for efficient delivery of the service.
  • Represent the Department and the Company at internal and external meetings, events, and conferences.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Medium Risk Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment & Transfer.
  • Relevant experience of environmental advisory management in waste, manufacturing, chemical or similar environments.
  • Relevant experience of working as a Qualified Safety Professional within industry.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the company and external bodies.
  • Experience of dealing with external regulatory authorities, EA, HSE and BSI.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of appropriate environmental management statutory and regulatory legislation, to include internal policy and procedures.
  • Participate in any relevant training specific to the effective delivery of the operation.
