Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to assist with the effective and smooth running of the payroll function. Processing all associated payroll and pensions tasks in line with agreed processes and timescales.

The post holder will also be required to undertake ad-hoc additional duties associated with pensions, supporting the Pensions & Payroll Specialist and Financial Controller with additional ad-hoc payroll and pensions duties and, on occasion assist other members of our small Corporate team. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Finance & Payroll Assistant is responsible, under the direction of the Financial Controller, for ensuring that the payroll is run on time, the process is resilient, compliant with HMRC legislation, NHS Pension Scheme rules and that payments are made to workforce, HMRC and pension organisations on time.  Processing payroll for 250 employees and dealing with all the associated tasks you would expect.

Also supporting with associated tasks for the pension, including, starters, leavers and changes. monthly and annual reports and also ensuring compliance with auto- enrolment.  

You would be deputising for the Pensions & Payroll Specialist when required so experience of using Sage 50 to an advanced level and working in a similar role for at least 2 years is essential.  

Hours:                               37.5 hours per week (working Mon to Fri)

Hybrid working after a probation period wuld be an option.
