Do you have the skills, experience and passion for leading health and social care teams responsible for intermediate care? If so, then you may have the ambition and drive to join our Reablement Team as an Assistant Reablement Manager!

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to oversee the day-to-day running of our Surrey Heath Area Reablement Service. This will involve supporting the Reablement Service through a period of transformation to make Reablement available to more residents in Surrey, supporting our guiding mission: 'No-one left behind'.

Our Reablement Service operates a hybrid working model, with an expectation to work from the office at least 2 days per week to promote collaboration and good working relationship within teams and other stakeholders.

About the Team

The Reablement Service is part of the Adults Wellbeing and Health Partnerships directorate. We are a multi-disciplinary team who, provide short term support for up to 6 weeks, to people usually in their own homes to promote independence and choice for people by helping them work towards their reablement goals as set out in their support plan. Our aim is to help improve people's quality of life, maximise long term independence and enable people to remain or return to live in their own home within the community.

We are an Occupational Therapy-led service and our community workforce includes Occupational Therapists, Specialist Workers, Team Leaders, Integrated Reablement Workers and Reablement Assistants. All roles work in a way that seeks to improve people's lives by working on their strengths, rather than their weaknesses, and making use of the community and networks around them, as well as local authority-provided services.

We work closely with some private providers across Surrey who are part of our Collaborative Reablement Service (CRS). CRS is an extension of our Reablement Teams - by having CRS partners we are able to have more capacity to support more Surrey residents.

About the Role

Joining us as an Assistant Reablement Manager, you will be doing something that really matters. Leading a team that work within people's homes, supporting people to regain or acquire new daily living skills and maintain their general wellbeing in line with what is important and meaningful to them, enabling them to live a more independent and fulfilled life.

We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm to lead our Surrey Heath Area Reablement service. You will be responsible for staff who deliver front line community services seven days a week, 365 days a year, ensuring high quality care is delivered in accordance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and current legislation.

As an Assistant Reablement Manager, you'll work closely with the Area Occupational Therapist and have direct line management responsibility for Team Leaders as well as overseeing the entire team. Your leadership will align services with organisational strategy, emphasizing a strength-based approach to maximize people's independence. Additionally, you'll monitor care quality, handle operational HR matters, and ensure efficient service operations meeting performance targets.

We are looking for someone who has a real passion to help others, will be able to deal with sensitive, and sometimes difficult situations to achieve the very best outcomes for the people we support, and has excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be shortlisted for interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • You hold or are willing to work towards a relevant level 5 or above qualification in health and social care management.
  • Experience of leading health and social care teams responsible for intermediate care.
  • Good knowledge of CQC regulated activity.
  • Ability to lead a team and use supervision to improve personal performance and practice of junior staff.
  • Competency in a range of IT tools including MS Office and database management systems.
  • Satisfactory DBS clearance will be required.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
