Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join their team in Farnborough. This role is essential in ensuring the quality of materials and processes through a variety of scientific tests and quality control measures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory analysis within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chemical Analysis: Perform chemical testing of metal processing solutions (e.g., anodising, alocrom, passivation, and cleaning/pickling) using titration and pH methods.
  • Solution Adjustments: Make necessary corrections to chemical treatment solutions based on test results.
  • Rinse Tank Testing: Conduct pH and conductivity tests on chemical process rinse tanks.
  • Data Recording: Maintain accurate records of test results in spreadsheets for tracking and reporting.
  • External Analysis: Collect samples for external lab analysis.
  • Quality Control Testing: Carry out scheduled tests including coating weight, etch rate, salt spray, and paint adhesion.
  • Process Monitoring: Oversee reverse osmosis water treatment and effluent treatment processes.
  • Specification Compliance: Ensure understanding and adherence to chemical treatment process specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production and quality teams to identify and resolve issues, and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • A-Level qualification in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance practices in manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational requirements.

Working Hours:

  • Standard hours: 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 12:00pm on Friday (39 hours/week).
  • Regular overtime will be available.
  • Occasional travel to other UK sites, customers, and suppliers, with expenses covered.
