The Team Teach training is important for the role as you are working with children who often display challenging behaviour and the ability to de-escalate this is vital.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEND, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can participate fully in college life. This position requires patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in various educational activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs as required.
  • Work closely with students displaying challenging behaviours, providing one-on-one support and guidance.
  • Utilise your Team Teach training to safely and effectively manage difficult situations and prevent escalation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to develop behaviour management strategies and plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and progress.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and provide them with the necessary tools to improve behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Contribute to creating a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Team Teach certification or similar behaviour training is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • A relevant qualification in special education or a related field is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs and strategies to support them.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and health & safety practices.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply for one
