Head of Department - Corporate & Commercial Law Solicitor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Corporate & Commercial Law to lead our department. The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with a strong background in corporate and commercial legal practice. This leadership role requires a dynamic individual who can drive the department forward, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services and contributing to the strategic growth of the firm.

Day to day of the role:

  • Oversee the Corporate & Commercial Law department, setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with the firm’s objectives.
  • Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, contracts, and compliance.
  • Drive business development activities, identifying new opportunities and promoting the firm’s services.
  • Supervise a dynamic team, including a newly qualified solicitor and secretarial support.
  • Work closely with the Partners of the department.
  • Utilise up-to-date case management systems to ensure an efficient and cost-effective service for clients.
  • Combine home and office working to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 6+ years PQE.
  • Previous experience handling Corporate & Commercial Law matters.
  • Strong experience in autonomously managing files, coupled with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Previous supervision/management experience is essential.
  • Dynamic, detail-oriented, and ambitious for career progression.
