Job Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Supply Teacher to work within a dynamic secondary school in Guildford. As a Supply Teacher, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of lessons in the absence of teaching staff. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to gain experience in a classroom setting, develop their skills in education, and contribute to the academic success and well-being of students.

You will work closely with students and support staff, maintaining a positive and structured learning environment while ensuring that the lesson plans set by the absent teachers are effectively followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during lessons, ensuring they remain on task and follow the instructions provided by the teacher.
  • Manage classroom behavior, ensuring a respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Assist with the setup of classroom resources and materials for lessons.
  • Support students with learning tasks, providing additional help where needed.
  • Ensure students adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding protocols.
  • Supervise students during break times and lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Provide feedback to the teaching staff regarding students' progress and behavior.
  • Liaise with the school leadership team to ensure any issues or concerns are reported in a timely and professional manner.
  • Occasionally support in administrative tasks as required.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or in a school environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage students effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A passion for working with young people and supporting their educational development.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices in an educational setting is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Any relevant qualifications or experience in education (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or other related fields) would be an advantage.
