About the Role

In this newly created role, the Commercial/Site Director will lead the Karimix team and drive forward ambitious growth plans. Working closely with the Operations Manager, the Commercial/Site Director will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the factory with the highest standards of food quality and integrity, whilst developing a high performance culture.

The Commercial/Site Director will take specific responsibility for the Sales, Service, Procurement and NPD teams. The Operations Manager is responsible for Production, Engineering, Quality and Logistics. The successful candidate will bring commercial acumen, effective communication and inspirational leadership skills, gained within a food manufacturing environment.

Initially this is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, with the potential for extension or permanent employment at the end of that period.

This role normally requires an onsite presence Monday to Friday, with some time off site meeting customers/suppliers/attending business meetings.

Karimix is a BRCGS AA grade accredited food manufacturer which takes pride in using only the finest ingredients to produce products that always deliver on flavour. We produce a range of certified vegan and vegetarian products under our own label as well as through contract manufacturing. Karimix is part of the Olidor Group which also includes other food manufacturing and distribution businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Group CEO and Finance Director, take responsibility for Karimixs overall financial performance including maximising growth and profit whilst managing budgets.

Lead the Karimix team (c15) taking specific responsibility for the Commercial, Customer Service and Technical teams.

Pursue opportunities for sales growth as part of a broader business plan applying sales and marketing knowledge and business acumen when taking commercial decisions.

Support the Operations Manager to build the required team to deliver an ambitious growth plan.

Manage production in the absence of the Operations Manager.

Overall people leader for the site, working with the Group Head of People to drive culture change and foster a high performance culture with an engaged, collaborative team.

Lead, mentor and coach across departments, setting KPIs and objectives, driving excellence and fostering a culture of continuous growth.

With the support of the Groups People team, assess resource needs, manage wage budgets and oversee the annual salary review.

Support the recruitment, onboarding and retention of high quality new starters.

Resolve any escalated customer, supplier, product or people issues.

Champion the food safety culture and work with the Technical and Quality team to maintain our AA BRCGS grade.

Take overall responsibility and accountability for the site at Karimix including Health and Safety.

Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Ideally 2 years at Commercial or Site Director level.

Demonstrable track record of driving change in a growth business.

Engaging leadership skills.

Track record of positive results in an operational role within a manufacturing environment.

Ability to translate strategic plans into clear actions and KPIs.

Flexible, adopting a hands-on approach as needed.

Ability to remain calm and logical in a fast-paced organisation.

Location: Faversham, Kent.

Work Arrangements: Monday Friday, 40 hours per week.
