Job Overview

The purpose of the Commercial Support Team is to develop opportunities with both existing customers who have previously used services and new customers who have yet to experience them. The ideal candidate should be able to:

  • Promote services to both new and existing customers.
  • Produce quotations, proposals, and RFQs for sales staff, clients, and branch offices.
  • Ensure solutions are commercially viable, balancing price and service effectively.
  • Prioritize opportunities for quick and effective follow-up.
  • Upsell services to increase business revenue compared to the previous year.
  • Gain a detailed understanding of Air services, including own consolidations and direct dealings with airlines.
  • Meet regularly with the manager and team to review progress and update objectives.
  • Share responsibilities for the Commercial Support Team inbox.
  • Assist with Air product pricing for all RFQs.
  • Continuously update rate-exploring tools with current rates.
  • Prepare quotations with a results-driven mindset and take responsibility for improving the win rate.
  • Provide feedback on success ratios at designated intervals.
  • Support branches with in-depth knowledge of software and systems.
  • Follow up on quotes and proposals via telephone, email, or in person when necessary.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, partners, and internal teams to optimize cost, revenue, and profit management.
  • Assist with contract management, pricing/tariff updates, and commercial documentation.
  • Complete all required reports quickly and accurately (proficiency in MS Excel is essential).
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and additional value opportunities.
  • Participate in customer service calls and sales visits as needed.
  • Understand other modes of transport [Ocean, Road, Rail] to consider alternative solutions.
  • Remain adaptable, as each day presents unique challenges requiring creativity and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Complete monthly reports efficiently and accurately, mainly using Smartsheet.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team, Managers, and Procurement teams to drive business growth.
  • Build relationships with internal and external teams and management.
  • Develop strong partnerships with core carriers and explore new carrier opportunities.
Performance Indicators
  • Product Import – Ability to create accurate and timely quotations and proposals for Import Air, ensuring the best solutions for customers.
  • Product Export – Capability to produce well-structured and competitive export quotations and proposals.
  • Proactive Support – Actively follow up on quotations via phone, aiming to convert as many as possible into confirmed business.
  • Teamwork – Collaborate with Sales and Management teams, contribute to sales calls, provide reports, and support procurement and operations teams in securing optimal solutions.
  • Market Awareness – Assist in gathering industry insights and relevant information to support marketing and provide valuable updates to customers.
  • Administration – Maintain accurate records of pricing proposals and quotations, ensuring easy accessibility within internal databases.
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills with key carrier partners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and with a diverse customer base.
  • Confidence in articulating ideas and thinking creatively.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to support Airfreight product development and sales.
