Our client in the logistics industry is looking for an immediately available Credit Controller for their finance team. 

The main objective of the role is to perform a first-class credit control service to the business.

As the Senior Credit controller your role will encompass:

• Credit control processes include debt chasing, cash allocation and cashiering• Prioritises accounts to be chased• Standard debt chasing includes chasing by telephone, e-mail, or letter• Complex debt chasing e.g., high-volume account for an overseas customer with disputed debt and language barriers or high-volume account for a multinational with contacts geographically dispersed or small-volume account with missing contact details• Deals promptly with customers written and verbal queries• Ensure credit limits are set on all accounts and updated on a regular basis• Reporting of overdue debt with reasons and actions• Ensure new accounts are approved correctly and appropriate documents such as Standard Terms & Conditions are issued promptly• Manage notification of companies in administration or with cash flow difficulties as appropriate• Manage the legal process as required including issuing of “Letters before proceedings” via external debt collection agency• Review bad and doubtful debts monthly• Cash allocation: BACS, cheque and credit card• Liaise with Purchase ledger clerks on Contra agents• Assists in daily, weekly, monthly, ad hoc reporting requirements• Open new credit accounts, address amendment and closure requests• Leads Accounts Receivable Projects for improvement• Maintains accurate records, system and manual• Other related tasks, as required

Essential skills needed: 

• Minimum three years’ experience of credit control and cash postings• Effective liaison across the business at all management levels• Ability to work in a focussed manner to individual targets and deadlines• Effective communication skills – verbal, written and a good telephone manner essential as well as strong Excel skills (pivot tables and v look ups. formulas) 

Able to work effectively in a small team and someone who is organised with effective planning skills. 

Ideal candidate will have experience from the freight/logistics industry.
