SLD Specialist Teaching Assistant - Feltham

We are working with a fantastic SEN Primary School located in Feltham dedicated to supporting diverse learning needs. We are committed to providing exceptional educational experiences for all students, particularly those with Special Learning Difficulties (SLD).

We are recruiting an outstanding SLD Specialist Teaching Assistant to work closely with students, teachers, and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) in creating supportive, adaptive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Develop and implement personalised learning strategies
  • Create and maintain detailed student progress records
  • Support classroom teachers in differentiating curriculum materials
  • Assist students with complex learning needs in accessing curriculum
  • Help develop students' communication and social interaction skills
  • Provide emotional and practical support during learning activities
  • Manage and support behaviour using positive intervention techniques

Essential Requirements: Qualifications

  • Specific SEN qualification/training preferred
  • Current Enhanced DBS check
  • Safeguarding training

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years working with SLD students
  • Deep understanding of SEN Code of Practice
  • Expertise in visual communication strategies
  • Knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication systems
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Experience using assistive technologies
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning difficulties
