Job Title: Airfreight Import Supervisor

Location: London Heathrow (LHR)Reports to: Operations ManagerLine Management Responsibility: None 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all airfreight operations from start to finish with a hands-on approach.
  • Create and maintain customer standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Understand the financial aspects of each job file within your remit.
  • Deliver accurate and timely paperwork for import documentation.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and understand the profit and loss (P&L) of each job.
  • Ensure timely and accurate freighting and invoicing.
  • Manage operational and financial reports, escalating anomalies appropriately.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, airlines, and overseas partners/agents.

Person Specification:

  • Solid experience in airfreight imports; export knowledge is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with handling air movements from start to finish.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for managing client/customer and carrier relationships.
  • Experience overseeing staff in high-pressure environments, with the ability to remain calm and motivate others.
  • Able to work a weekend overtime rota: Four hours of overtime on a Saturday or Sunday, working from home, typically once every four weeks.
  • Knowledge and experience of customs is desirable.
  • Strong work ethic and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Experience with Cargowise is highly beneficial.
