Real teaching. Real relationships. Real impact.   Looking for a teaching role where every lesson could change a life? We’re recruiting a qualified Maths Teacher (PGCE/QTS/QTLS) to join a committed education team at HMYOI Feltham, working with young men aged 15–18. You’ll be teaching Functional Skills and GCSE Maths—from Entry Level through to Level 3—helping learners build essential numeracy, grow their confidence, and take positive steps forward. Some learners are high-attaining, motivated, and ready to stretch—others need to start with the basics. Either way, you’ll get time and space to deliver engaging, tailored lessons, with small class sizes and a timetable that offers generous PPA and non-contact time. What the job looks like:
  • Up to 23 hours teaching per week: 3.5 hrs morning + 2 hrs afternoon (Mon–Thurs), 3 hrs Friday (and you're done by 1pm Fridays!)
  • A few free sessions weekly—used for outreach or 1:1 sessions
  • You’ll support 5 learner groups across the week
  • 35 days’ holiday, plus 5 flexible days to use when you need
Why it matters: You’ll need to be thick-skinned, calm, and emotionally intelligent, these are teenagers, after all. Some will push boundaries, others will surprise you with their progress. They might joke about off-topic things, test your patience, or shut down mid-lesson—but that’s part of the journey. You won’t face it alone. Classrooms are safe, supported by an Ops Manager and a responsive onsite team of officers. Staff carry alarms, corridors are patrolled, and there’s a strong behaviour support structure in place. You’ll also have space to pause, reset learners when needed, and get support from colleagues who’ve been there. What you’ll need:
  • A Level 5+ teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, QTLS)
  • A Maths subject specialism
  • Confidence working with SEN, ADHD and disengaged learners
  • A sense of humour, patience—and the belief that people can change
What’s in it for you:
  • 40 days holiday (35 scheduled + 5 floating)
  • PPA & admin time built into your week
  • Early Friday finishes (1pm)
  • Healthcare cash plan (e.g. claim back dental/optical costs)
  • Matched pension (4–6%)
  • Life assurance (3x salary)
  • Organisational sick pay
Please apply via this advert – we aim to respond to everyone.
