Location: Cambridge
Contract: 6 months (potential for extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (07:15 to 15:45), Friday (07:15 to 12:15)
Pay: 19.12/hour (PAYE) or 26.04/hour (Umbrella)

We are recruiting experienced Coach Builders to join a leading engineering company working on specialist projects for deployable infrastructure. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality builds and project delivery.

Candidate must be able to provide 3 years' worth of employment references and must be eligible to obtain basic security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and build projects using engineering drawings and design data.
  • Support production managers in meeting deadlines and maintaining budget requirements.
  • Take part in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and 5S processes.
  • Ensure all equipment and tooling needs are identified and reported.
  • Attend production meetings when required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, or joining, preferably in automotive or heavy industry.
  • Skilled in drilling aluminium components and installing blind rivets with pneumatic tools.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship (City & Guilds or equivalent) in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or Manufacturing and Assembly.
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical designs.
  • Knowledge of workshop processes, production methods, and safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive team-oriented approach.
