Tay Recruitment are recruiting for a sales Manager who is looking to progress to Sales Director within the next 5 years.

The Sales Manager will lead the sales efforts for manufacturing products, working closely with production, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and profitably.

The role involves driving sales growth through a strategic approach while maintaining strong relationships with key clients, particularly in B2B markets, and managing the sales team's performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales plans that align with the manufacturing company’s growth targets and production capacities.
  • Analyse market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to adjust sales strategies.
  • Work with R&D and production teams to understand product capabilities and promote them effectively in the market.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the sales team, ensuring each member understands product technicalities and value propositions.
  • Set performance targets and regularly assess team progress through KPIs like unit sales, revenue, and profitability.
  • Provide training on industry trends, product knowledge, and sales techniques.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all customers.
  • Foster long-term partnerships by understanding customer needs and offering tailored manufacturing solutions.
  • Manage high-level negotiations on contract terms, pricing, and delivery schedules, ensuring alignment with production capabilities.
  • Optimize the sales pipeline, from lead generation to deal closure, ensuring smooth operations between sales and production teams.
  • Utilize CRM and ERP tools to track customer orders, delivery timelines, and sales forecasts.
  • Work with manufacturing and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and to manage customer expectations based on forecasted demand.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management, covering sales performance, forecasts, customer feedback, and action plans.
  • Monitor the team’s performance against established targets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.:
  • Keep up to date with product specifications, production schedules, and industry regulations.
  • Communicate feedback from customers regarding product performance to the production and R&D teams for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the sales team is knowledgeable about new manufacturing techniques, materials, and any product modifications.
  • Manage sales budgets, ensuring targets are met within the set financial constraints.
  • Analyse the profitability of sales, adjusting strategies to ensure maximum return on investment.
  • Consult closely with the production, engineering, and logistics departments to ensure the feasibility of sales commitments.
  • Function as a bridge between customers and production teams to resolve issues related to quality, lead times, and delivery.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and participate in industry trade shows and events.

The Ideal candidate would demonstrate they have experience.

Proven experience as a sales Manager in the manufacturing industry or similar field.

Strong understanding of the manufacturing process, product lifecycles, and supply chain dynamics.

Excellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Proficiency in CRM, ERP, and sales forecasting tools.

Ability to interpret technical product specifications and translate them into sales pitches.
