Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for making precision tools with a heavy bias towards jigs, fixtures and holding devices. Other responsibilities will include the maintenance and refurbishment of press tools. The jigs and fixtures produced will then be used in the manufacturing process to ensure we make customer products to the required specifications. Our customer base is very broad but includes many world-class blue-chip businesses.

Duties

  • The successful candidate will have an extensive background working in a toolroom or very similar environment (fitter turner for example).
  • The post holder will be required to produce bespoke manufacturing aids using a variety of manual milling, turning and grinding machines along with a variety of other machines and hand tools.
  • Experience of setting, programming and operating XYZ Prototrak milling machines or lathes would also be desirable, but not essential.
  • The post is to work in a small team on site at our bespoke tool room.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously; however, they should also be comfortable working in a small project-based teams along with engineering, quality and production team members.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining their own quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies.

Required knowledge, skills or experience

  • Previous experience within a similar role as Toolmaker within the engineering industry is essential.
  • Problem solving and tool improvement.
  • Must be able to work on own initiative.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Be organised and have the ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Be able to communicate effectively to own team and other departments.
  • Be efficient with working practices.

Location: FerryHill

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Thursday 07.00 - 16.00 / Fridays 07.00 - 11.30

Rates of pay:

  • Up to £37,000 per year dependant on experience (Paid weekly)
  • Overtime paid at 1.5 of day rate Mon - Sat, 2.0 of day rate for Sunday
