Principal Highways Design Engineer

A Civil Engineering Consultancy based in Hampshire have an opportunity for a Principal Highways Design Engineer to join their growing team. The role benefits from a competitive starting salary of up to 65k, plus bonus and many other benefits.

As Principal Highways Design Engineer, you will manage the design process for a variety of projects within the transport planning sector. Responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring that designs are delivered within programme and budget.
• Management of resource allocations.
• Preparation and management of project budgets.
• Being the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Ensuring that designs adhere to relevant guidance and authorities.
• Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
• Compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation.

The key skills required for the Principal Highways Design Engineer will be:

• Proactive management skills with the ability to inspire others.
• Excellent resource management skills.
• Experience of a variety of highway design environments.
• Proven project management of highway projects.
• Previous experience of mentoring and developing others.
• Experienced in managing the development of contract documents related to relevant highway contracts.
• The ability to work with and advise key clients on technical issues in the highway structure sector.
• Knowledge of Civils 3D CAD package.
• Experience in highway drainage design and use of MicroDrainage software.
