Bennett and Game are currently working with a leading consultancy based in Fleet. They're expertise supplies a diverse clientele, including prominent commercial developers, with a track record of successful projects across the UK. They specialise in development transport planning, S278/38 highways scheme design, drainage, environmental planning, implementation, and operation.

The Principal Highways Design Engineer will be working for an employer that prides themselves on their team-oriented culture, valuing each member as other as their greatest asset. Main Duties:

  • Deliver designs within the provided program and budget.
  • Manage resource allocation to ensure team efficiency.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all designs comply with MCHW, DMRB, local design guidance, and statutory requirements.
  • Review and authorize design information and reports, providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management Team on projects across various offices and disciplines.
  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the team, demonstrating sound independent judgment.
  • Comply with Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations, and adopt proactive risk management strategies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proactive management skills with confidence in leading teams through diverse workloads.
  • Excellent resource management skills to allocate effective staff for projects.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in various highway design environments.
  • Proven project management skills for highway projects, ensuring delivery to program and budget.
  • Display sound independent judgment.
  • Experience in developing, mentoring, and supervising Highway Design staff.
  • Robust knowledge of Highways Technical documents within DMRB.
  • Experience managing the development of contract documents per relevant Highway contracts.
  • Ability to advise key clients on technical issues in the highway structures sector at a senior level.
  • Working knowledge of Civils 3D CAD package.
  • Experience in highway drainage design and use of MicroDrainage software.
