Building Surveyor

6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Certain Advantage is working in partnership with Local Housing Association. They are hiring a Surveyor on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract covering Dorset, Somerset region.

Role Purpose

To provide technical surveying across a geographical portfolio of properties and contract management for a defined planned maintenance programme across the region. Contributing to the development and implementation of the vision, Corporate Strategy, culture and organisational effectiveness.

Main Key Accountabilities

  • Planned maintenance delivery through external contractors
  • Minor works
  • Refurbishment works
  • Planned, repairs & void surveying
  • Health and Safety work such as fire safety programmes
  • Work to home owners, leaseholders and market rent customers

In order to apply, you must have experience and qualifications are essential to this role:

  • Have a current, full driving license or the ability to travel around the local vicinity
  • Experience of surveying and contract management in the social housing sector.
  • Experience of monitoring works budgets c. £500k
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external customers. Understands and anticipates the needs of customers.
  • Managing procurement processes
  • Performance Management relating to contracts and delivery
  • Project Management co-ordination
  • Co-ordinating Health and Safety
  • Working knowledge of current Health and Safety with particular reference to the building and construction sector
  • Current methods, standards and initiatives relating to repair and refurbishment of residential dwellings
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of financial and contractual considerations
  • Risk Management - theory and application
  • Building and Maintenance legislation
  • Contract management
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and deliver to challenging targets
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen
  • Confident user of IT and Microsoft products
  • Creative and practical problem-solving ability
  • Astute analytical skills
  • Driven to meet challenges and targets without disregarding professionalism
  • Able to provide a flexible approach to work, and occasionally undertake work outside normal office hours

You will be working from Monday to Thursday out and about in our communities, with Friday typically being an admin meeting day.
