Job Opportunity: Dedicated Teaching Assistant - Supporting Special Educational Needs (Term Time, Temporary)

A Fleetwood Primary are seeking SSA's in preparation for September. This Primary school is an inclusive academy that welcomes children of all abilities and backgrounds to access education. They offer a fantastic faculty environment, access to staff training such as Phonics, INSET days and first aid. We are seeking a special support assistant to work between 3-5 days term time, between Monday - Friday 8:30-3:30. Pay is £13.84-£15 per hour based on experience and role requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students with mild special educational needs, helping them to overcome barriers and reach their full potential.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and well-being of pupils with a range of mild needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Global Learning Delay (GLD)
  • Cognitive Support needs
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dyslexia
  • ADHD/ Autism

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualised support plans.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Adapting learning materials and activities to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting students with their social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and self-regulation.
  • Assisting with personal care where necessary (with appropriate training and sensitivity).
  • Contributing to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Observing and reporting on student progress and any emerging concerns.
  • Building positive and supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about working with children with special educational needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and understanding of individual learning styles.
  • A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to the role.
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) or have equivalent experience.
  • Have a good understanding of child development and learning.
  • Experience working with children with SEND is desirable but not essential.
