Our client based in Mosstodloch has a current vacancy for a Quantity Surveying Assistant to join their team.

This position is temporary for approx. 12 months, however there is a possibility of this being extended beyond this point.

Reporting to the business Manager the main purpose of this role will be assist with the development of a high quality, and efficient Quantity Surveying service.

Main Duties to expect (not limited to):

  • Assist with any administrative tasks as delegated by the Building Services Management team
  • Ensure timely and accurate information is being delivered to both the Business Manager and BSM team
  • Undertake any training as required and or to train and develop other staff members
  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and advise on procurement strategy
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor tenders
  • Prepare accurate budget cost reports, making clear recommendations
  • Liaise with the Procurement Team and other appropriate departments to ensure all documentation and tendering procedures are undertaken
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes

Essential Experience:

  • Post qualification experience in a Contractors QS environment (local authority beneficial however not essential).

Education/Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND level or equivalent in QS essential
  • BSc in QS or equivalent (Desirable)
  • CSCS Card would also be highly beneficial

The ideal candidate should:

  • Display a willingness to work in a demanding position, where a flexible approach is required
  • Be able to accept delegation
  • Have good Organisational skills
  • Have knowledge of policies, issues and procedures relating to the delivery of a QS service
  • Be good with numbers and have an analytical mind
  • Competent in the use of MS Office packages
  • Be happy to travel to sites when required to do so
  • Have good communication skills both orally and written
  • Have the ability to relate well to customers and colleagues alike
