Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Promote and ensure the safety and well-being of all children and young people in your care.
  • Student Support: Assist students with identified special educational needs in their academic, social, and behavioural development, working closely with the AVP Inclusion (SENCo).
  • Classroom Assistance: Provide targeted support to individuals, small groups, or whole classes by clarifying instructions, providing differentiated resources, and promoting independent learning skills.
  • EHCP Support: Help deliver educational support plans for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), especially those with High Needs Funding.
  • Behaviour Management: Encourage positive behaviour by fostering relationships, keeping students on task, and supporting the school's behaviour policy.
  • Specialist Programmes: Assist in delivering speech and language, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy programmes under supervision.
  • Interventions: Lead or assist with interventions aimed at improving student progress in areas such as reading, spelling, handwriting, and comprehension.
  • Supervision: Provide supervision during break and lunch times, and accompany students on school trips or external placements.
  • Exam Support: Offer additional support during internal and external exams, acting as a scribe, reader, or invigilator where necessary.
