We're looking for an enthusiastic Drama/Performing Arts Teacher to join a specialist SEND provision in Stoke on Trent. What will you be doing?
As a Drama/Performing Arts Teacher, you'll have the chance to inspire and engage students with creative, hands-on lessons in Drama and Performing Arts. Your role will involve:
- Teaching Drama & Performing Arts - Delivering lessons in drama, theatre, and other performing arts, making them accessible to students with SEND.
- Supporting Creative Development - Encouraging students to express themselves, build confidence, and explore their artistic potential.
- Differentiated Learning - Adapting lesson plans and activities to suit individual student needs and abilities.
- Behaviour Management - Using creative techniques and positive reinforcement to maintain an effective, engaging learning environment.
- Collaboration with Staff - Working with the wider school team, including the SENCO and other teachers, to ensure that each student's needs are met and progress is supported.
Who we're looking for:
- A creative and enthusiastic individual with a passion for drama and the performing arts.
- Someone who is excited about working with students who have SEND and SEMH needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Experience in drama, performing arts, or a related field is ideal, but a willingness to learn and develop is key.
- Ability to tailor lessons to meet the needs of all students, ensuring they feel supported and valued.
- You'll need to have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
A Typical Day in the Role
Your day will start with a team briefing, where you'll discuss the students you'll be teaching and review lesson plans. Throughout the day, you'll teach engaging drama and performing arts lessons, ensuring students feel encouraged, supported, and inspired. You'll help students express themselves creatively while managing their behaviour and emotional needs. At the end of the day, you'll collaborate with colleagues to review progress and plan for the following day.
