Carbon60 are looking to recruit a Skilled Vehicle / Plant Technician to support a large large government organisation in Stoke on Trent. This is excellent opportunity to join a stable organisation with potential for a long term or permanent position.

Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: 25.00 Per Hour / 48,100
Working Pattern: 06:30 - 14:30 Monday to Thursday 06:30-14:00 Friday / 08:00-16:00 Monday - Thursday / 08:00-15:30 Friday
Contract: Temporary ongoing with a strong possibility to become permanent for the right person.

The Role:

  • Fault finding and diagnostic testing of motor vehicles, contractors plant and grounds machinery powered by Gas, diesel oil, Petrol or electricity .
  • Carry out repairs including fault finding and diagnostic testing to vehicle/plant electrics, hydraulics and pneumatic, especially those fitted to specialist vehicles such as refuse, road sweeper's, gully vehicles and buses
  • Carry out repairs and modifications to vehicle bodywork, including general panel beating, engineering fabrication, design, redesign and installation
  • Complete general welding (gas, arc) brazing and soldering as necessary
  • To carry out vehicle safety inspections, in accordance with the Vehicle Inspectorate standards and guidelines and to complete all relevant documentation accurately
  • Carry out MOT testing (Class 4,5 and 7)

The Successful Candidate:

  • Experience in vehicle or plant maintenance in a multidisciplinary workshop environment.
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Plant Motor Vehicle Technology equivalent to NVQ level 2/3
  • Hold a VOSA recognised Certificate for Large Goods Vehicle Safety/Roadworthiness Inspections
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of M.O.T. Testing, standards and procedures and be a qualified MOT inspector or actively in training as an MOT Inspector
