Job Title: Senior MEP Planner
Location: Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater, Somerset
Working Hours: Hybrid working is available, but you will be required to be on site weekly. Meetings and workshops in Bristol may also require attendance. Standard 45 hours, Monday to Friday
Overall Purpose of The Role
Our client is currently involved in a major energy project in the Southwest (Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater in Somerset), delivering reinforced concrete, bulk earthworks, and infrastructure on one of the UK's largest projects. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior MEP Planner to join the team.
Ideally, you would bring experience in the installation of mechanical and electrical systems and the fit-out of reinforced concrete frame buildings, with a thorough understanding of the NEC contract environment. Prior experience in managing subcontractors and auditing subcontractor programs is highly desirable.

Key Tasks and Accountability
Working independently or as part of the planning team:
Programme Compliance: Ensure that the programme content meets all planning procedures and guidance.
Scope and Constraints: Identify planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements, including identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme.
Tender Planning: Utilize advanced expertise to collaboratively develop and agree on a strategic and optimized sequence and methodology, ensuring efficient design, procurement, and construction strategies for the successful delivery of the project.
Detailed Planning Documentation: Produce and document comprehensive planning deliverables, including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports. Develop the Tender Programme and supporting documentation with precision and strategic insight.
Contract Planning: At the contract stage, assume responsibility for the meticulous production, management, and maintenance of the Contract Programme, adhering to planning procedures and optimizing strategic planning elements with the Project Planning Lead.
Critical Path Analysis: Evaluate the project critical path, advise the project team on results and corrective actions, and maintain project baselines while executing the change control process as necessary.
Resource Management: Efficiently manage labour, equipment, and materials to meet project objectives while minimizing costs and delays.
Contract Management: Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitor performance, and resolve contract-related issues.
Strategic Planning and Mentorship: Provide strategic planning oversight by implementing intricate scheduling techniques. Actively mentor less experienced planners to foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment and enhance project success through strategic planning insights.
Data Analysis: Support the planning team in producing project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations, and make data-driven decisions for project improvement.

Proficiency in scheduling tools and software like Primavera P6, MS Project, or ASTA.
Strong understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Expertise in project scheduling and planning, with the ability to manage complex project schedules using industry-standard tools.
Familiarity with various tender and contract documents, specifications, and risk management techniques such as TRA and QSRA.
Experience:
Proven experience in producing and managing Construction Programmes across diverse and complex projects.
Demonstrated experience leading planning efforts in construction projects, with a strong track record in successful project delivery and a good understanding of commercial and contractual matters.
Experience managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
UK-based NEC contract planning experience is essential.
A minimum of 5 years' planning experience.
A qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering to HND level is preferred.
Thorough understanding of programming techniques, cost and resource loading, and familiarity with Impact/Delay Programmes.
