About the Role

As the QHSE Manager, you will be at the helm of our Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) systems, ensuring they are robust, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary agenda encompassing Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, and Food Safety.

This is a key leadership role where your expertise will drive operational excellence, reduce costs, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement procedures and documentation compliant with BS EN ISO 9001:2008.
  • Drive the site’s Quality agenda, focusing on cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Lead QA/QC activities, including inspections, measurements, and root cause analysis.
  • Investigate and report customer complaints, initiating effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct supplier audits and ensure the highest GMP standards are maintained.
  • Provide comprehensive quality reports and liaise with customers on quality-related issues.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)

  • Champion the site’s Health, Safety, and Environmental agenda.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and relevant BRCGS standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and internal audits as Lead Auditor.
  • Ensure the site meets all legislative requirements and stays ahead of regulatory changes.
  • Promote and lead the ‘Red Tag’ reporting system to enhance site safety.

Food Safety

  • Manage and enhance the site HACCP system in compliance with BRCGS standards.
  • Oversee Pest, Glass, and Sharps control systems to ensure robust hygiene standards.
  • Liaise with customers and regulatory bodies to maintain and approve hygiene systems.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop the QHSE function, conducting appraisals and managing performance.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in a QHSE leadership role within a manufacturing or food packaging environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and BRCGS standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead audits, risk assessments, and compliance programs.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
