Job Title: Senior Group Internal Auditor (Construction)

Thorn Baker is seeking a skilled Senior Group Internal Auditor to join our award-winning house building company. Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular reviews of the Group's construction policies and procedural framework, making recommendations as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and emerging best practises.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Group Construction department and Independent Quality Controllers (IQCs) to understand the Group's construction practises and their operational implementation.
  • Create an annual risk-based construction audit plan to provide assurance on:
  • The effectiveness and consistency of the IQC inspection regime.
  • The appropriateness of the construction quality culture within each operating company.
  • Other areas of focus as defined by key stakeholders, including the Board and the Group Construction department.
  • Execute the annual construction audit plan using a combination of desktop data reviews, structured interviews (remote and in person), and site inspections.
  • Produce detailed management reports and information on the construction audit plan for inclusion in the Director of Internal Audit's overall reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Assist the Director of Internal Audit in handling whistleblowing investigations related to construction activities.
  • Support the Director of Internal Audit in delivering any other audits or investigations related to construction.
  • Provide advice, information, and training on audit findings as needed.

 

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in an audit or assurance-based role within the construction sector
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, meet targets and deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
