Job Title: Part Time - In-House Property Lawyer

About Us: The West Bay Club is a subsidiary of the parent company West Bay Holdings Ltd, which is the freeholder of the West Bay Club site, located 5 minutes outside of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. The West Bay Club is a beautifully landscaped site, consisting of 108 leasehold holiday properties, 8 freehold residential properties, and a development, which will see the construction of 22 properties and Leisure Facilities.
Working alongside the Managing Agent ERMC Ltd, the West Bay Club manages the freeholder/Tenant relationship, managing all the communal lands on-site, lease compliance, the management of the service charge accounts.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated In-House Property Lawyer to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced In-House Property Lawyer to provide expert legal advice and support across all aspects of the lease. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing property transactions, leasing agreements, development projects, and compliance with relevant property laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on a broad range of property-related matters, including acquisitions, disposals, leases, and property management.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, licenses, and other property-related documents.
- Manage and resolve property disputes, including liaising with external counsel when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant property laws and regulations, including planning, environmental, Landlords & Tenants Act, and health and safety regulations.
- Advise on property development projects, including land use, zoning, and planning permissions.
- Conduct due diligence on property transactions and advise on risk management.
- Liaise with internal personnel, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Stay updated on changes in property law and regulations and provide training and updates to the internal team as needed.
- Assist with corporate governance and company secretarial duties related to property assets.
Qualifications:
- A qualified lawyer (solicitor or CILEx fellow equivalent) with experience in practice - in house and/or private practice.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in property law, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK property law, including commercial and residential property transactions, leasing, and development.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse and busy workload with strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide pragmatic and commercially-focused legal advice.
Desirable:
- Experience in property litigation and dispute resolution.
- Knowledge of the Landlords & Tenants Act
- Knowledge of planning and environmental law.
