Principle Structural Engineer

I am actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Principle Structural Engineer to join a leading, successful Structural Engineering consultancy based in Cheshire, that specialise in Extreme Loads and Blast Engineering. They are recognized as a leader in the field, with a project portfolio that includes the design of high-profile developments across the UK and internationally, addressing extreme load events.

Qualifications and Experiences for this Principle Structural Engineer include:

  • A degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE) or equivalent experience to pass the chartered professional review
  • Proven leadership skills and experience working with clients and project teams to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Strong knowledge of steel and concrete design per Eurocodes or UFC 3-340-02
  • Experience managing the commercial aspects of project delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
  • Willingness to undergo UK security vetting (SC level or higher)

Duties and responsibilities for this Principle Structural Engineer include:

  • Collaborate with clients to define project requirements, influence outcomes, and present tailored solutions
  • Work closely with project design teams to develop protective design strategies
  • Deliver design responsibilities, including developing specifications, monitoring compliance, and conducting site visits
  • Support Tier 1, 2, and 3 contractors to ensure construction meets project specifications
  • Collaborate with manufacturers on new product designs
  • Manage project workloads to meet deadlines and maintain high quality standards
  • Oversee and conduct detailed structural calculations using a combination of hand calculations, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics
  • Conduct vehicle dynamics assessments for hostile vehicle mitigation design
  • Lead and mentor a team of graduate, project, and senior engineers
  • Contribute to the senior management team
