DCT Recruitment have an exciting opportunity to join our client as Operations / Production Engineer Manager to organise and oversee the manufacturing of our existing and future product range.

We are an ambitious and fast growing business with a global client base in the UK, US, EU and Australasia. This is a role which will grow and evolve in seniority over time, so are seeking a results focussed individual who has strong ambitions to progress within the business up to Director level.

You will be ultimately responsible for the smooth running of all production machinery and the quality of output, overseeing and optimising the day to day running of the shopfloor and ensuring efficient operations of CNC Machines, Manual Machines, Welding, Assembly and Inspection.

We are anticipating you will have comprehensive knowledge in CNC machining procedures and the ability to direct personnel towards maximum performance which will set you apart as a leader. Decision-making and problem-solving are key skills. The goal is to take ownership of an efficient and productive manufacturing process that meets customer requirements whilst driving production to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Management of Health and Safety standards to adhere to Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 and company handbook
Drive Production planning across the shopfloor to ensure delivery dates are met, focusing on schedules and continuous process improvement
Embed into the business a Continuous Improvement culture operating under lean principles and JIT operations
Build strong relationships with the supply chain ensuring we our supply partners are meeting our requirements
Manage the throughput from material receipt to delivery in line with customer requirements, this includes but not limited to, Goods In, consumables, production, inspection and packing
Ensure all work is carried out in line with management systems and processes to maintain high-quality levels in line with ISO 9001 requirements
Maintain and validate the manufacturing controls for the detailed operations within the machining processes
Control maintenance of all machinery to ensure continuous production
To support and develop the production team capabilities. A key facet of this is having multiskilled team members to create capacity where needed.
Change control management of settings and operations with the tooling
Support the Commercial Director in the sales process with technical guidance
Hold regular meetings with the Production Team, Purchasing and Sales to monitor performance and best practice
Provide regular feedback to employees, carry out performance reviews and ensure all training and skills are up to date. Maintain and develop a skills matrix.
Calculate costings and times for jobs along with any associated tooling costs.
Potential for international travel in the future to support the growth of the business
Essential Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management role within a CNC complex Engineering / Manufacturing environment
Relevant qualifications (MIKE PLEASE ADVISE degree level? HND?)
High degree of technical competence in CNC machining and related processes.
Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings
Experienced in the use of AutoCAD/Draftsight and CAM systems
Experience of operating ERP systems, maintaining Bill of Materials, Production routes etc.
Experience in fostering a collaborative work environment and promoting professional development
Self-motivated and driven to be personally accountable for delivering effective outcomes and solutions
Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and develop staff
Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Practical hands-on approach
Desirable Experience and Skills
Strong knowledge and practical understanding of IS0 9001
Experience of lean manufacturing is highly desired
Continuous improvement mentality to drive quality improvement throughout the business and promote efficient ways of working
Logical and structured approach to problem solving
