Reed Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be working with a growing client in Gateshead in their search for a skilled Management Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is proficient in using Xero and Business Central systems. The main responsibilities include managing all transactions, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, handling month-end and year-end accounts, and preparing VAT returns.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage daily transactions including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and financial reports.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate quarterly and annual tax returns.
  • Analyse financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental and fiscal regulations.
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an accountant.
  • Strong familiarity with accounting software, specifically Xero and Business Central.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with preparing financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Relevant certification (e.g. CIMA or ACCA) is preferable.
