Contracts Manager

Our client is seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee civil operations across multiple sites, ensuring the successful execution and completion of projects within the civil engineering sector.
This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards in production, commercial issues, and health and safety, with project values ranging from £200k to £4m.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Take full ownership of projects from inception to completion.
- Ensure all civils site files are prepared and secured before commencement and properly completed.
- Motivate and lead the workforce, providing necessary information, equipment, and materials to achieve project goals.
- Set and monitor goals and timelines, ensuring adherence and addressing any deviations.
- Maintain high standards of site cleanliness and welfare conditions.
- Manage and track the master programme and liaise with the design team to ensure timely delivery and value engineering opportunities.
- Directly manage site managers/supervisors focusing on programme, quality, health, and safety.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure project goals are met, planning phased visits and managing subcontractor documentation.
- Oversee the planning and programming of works in collaboration with clients, ensuring schedules are adhered to.
- Manage costs effectively, minimising defects and material wastage.
- Forecast and plan for future requirements, including procurement and staffing.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety objectives and conduct regular meetings to cover various operational aspects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- CSCS, SMSTS, HNC in Civil Engineering or Building Studies, Temporary Works, First Aid certifications.
- Proven experience in civil engineering, particularly in commercial projects involving roads, sewers, industrial civils, and buildings.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent commercial awareness and computer literacy.
- Experience in managing a company’s own labour and plant.
- Familiarity with QEMS procedures and programming & planning.
