About the Role:

BDM Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated Mortgage Compliance Officer to join a well-established, independent mortgage broker based in Gateshead. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and regulatory compliance of mortgage application processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Adherence: Conduct thorough reviews of mortgage cases to ensure strict compliance with FCA regulations and internal policies.
  • Risk Mitigation: Perform comprehensive risk assessments and fraud prevention evaluations to safeguard the business.
  • Client Focus: Prepare and deliver clear, accurate suitability letters to clients, ensuring they understand the implications of their mortgage choices.
  • Process Efficiency: Accurately submit client information and documentation to lenders, streamlining the application process.
  • Problem Solving: Analyse declined applications and maximum loan decisions to identify innovative solutions for brokers and clients.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, internal teams, and other key stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 1 year in mortgage administration or compliance.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of FCA regulations, mortgage processes, and financial networks.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: A proactive and analytical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify and implement effective solutions.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CeMAP)
