Teaching Assistant - Gateshead 

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to students across the primary phase. You will assist in creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment, helping children to reach their full potential. Whether you're supporting students with specific learning needs or helping to deliver group activities, your role will be essential in ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Assist in planning and delivering lessons in collaboration with the class teacher
  • Support students with additional needs, ensuring they are fully included in all activities
  • Help to create a positive and nurturing classroom environment
  • Monitor and track student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom displays
  • Support the delivery of a broad range of curriculum subjects and activities

About You:

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3) or equivalent experience
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Is able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Has experience of supporting children with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to helping children thrive
