My client is seeking a Finance Manager to join their management team in Gateshead. This role involves high-level decision-making and direct support to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will manage the on-site accounts team and play a crucial role in financial operations and strategic planning.
Day-to-day of the role:- Manage the on-site accounts team and oversee all financial operations.
- Attend monthly management meetings with members from another office to align strategies and goals.
- Produce management accounts promptly: flash figures within 3 working days and final figures within 8 days of month end.
- Liaise with the Finance function team at another site to ensure accuracy in inter-company balances and compliance with financial regulations.
- Handle all interactions with HMRC, including submissions for PAYE, VAT, Corporation Tax, and other relevant duties.
- Ensure the General Ledger is accurate and manage the Trial Balance.
- Produce Year End accounts with specific adjustments and liaise with financial auditors to ensure a satisfactory audit completion.
- Develop annual budgets and in-year forecasts in conjunction with the Managing Director.
- Monitor Capital project spending and provide cash forecasts.
- Manage the Sales Ledger, oversee credit limits, and ensure timely collection of overdue debts.
- Oversee the Purchase Ledger, authorise payments to suppliers, and manage company bank accounts.
- Ensure payroll accuracy and manage the auto-enrolment pension scheme.
- Maintain the accuracy of stock records and supervise annual stock counts.
- Manage Life Assurance cover and ensure compliance with company policies including Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, and HR.
- Proven experience in financial management and accounting within a similar role.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to HMRC, payroll, and accounting.
- Ability to produce accurate financial reports and forecasts.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
