The RoleWe are delighted to be working exclusively with The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in their search for a new Head of Finance. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Finance leader to join a reputable and establish North East organisation in the heart of the city. Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art has exhibited the work of over 500 different international artists and has welcomed over 8 million visitors since opening in 2002. Baltic is housed in the former Rank Hovis Flour Mill built in 1950. Ellis Williams Architects, London oversaw the redevelopment into Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.The Head of Finance will lead the finance team on reporting and preparing dashboards for senior managers and Board for continual monitoring and review. Areas of responsibility will include: 
  • Compilation of monthly management accounts including forecasting. 
  • Embedding and ensuring robust financial management, controls and reporting.
  • Introducing more detailed cash flow forecasting and treasury management.
  • Embedding new cash management and advising on investment to increase return on investment. 
  • Reviewing and analysing all balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Championing data and all dashboard management relating to group finance (using Sage Intact reporting tools and PowerBi)
  • Line management responsibilities for the team
  • Responsibility for statutory accounting and year end external audit 
About You
  • Strong management & communication skills
  • Management account preparation and cash flow forecasting
  • Dashboard knowledge and preparation
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to constructively challenge
  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent or Qualified by Experience
  • Microsoft Office expertise (Excel & Word)
  • Knowledge/experienced in databases & trained in Power BI
  • Experience in online accounting packages
  • Management experience

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (Salary dependent on experience)

Working hours: 22.5 hours per week; we offer a flexitime scheme

Place of Work: Your usual place of work will be Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, South Shore Road, Gateshead NE8 3BA
