CMS Recruitment Limited are currently recruiting for a site service technician for a well established food manufacturing company based in Gateshead.

As Site Services Technician you will be working alongside the wider team to ensure all Buildings, Fabric and ancillary equipment/services are fullly operational ensuring the safety and well being of all employees and equipment is of the highest priority. You will ensure all functions are efficient and utilised to meet all customer specifications. You will be responsible to work collaboratively with contractors/other members of the team to ensure all aspects of work are maintained and run in a safe, efficient manner, meeting agreed legal requirements and local specifications. Support Engineering and Site performance targets by carrying out planned maintenance, timely repair of breakdowns, continuous improvement activities, including identifying problem areas then engineering out the cause. You will identify areas for improvement and work with the wider team to implement action plans to promote and aid continuous improvements. You will support the engineering team to carry out RCA on any issues and work alongside them to identify resolutions and implement plans to prevent reoccurance. You will support the wider engineering team to identify issues and assist with resolution implementaion.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure all equipment achieves optimum capacity required.
  • To ensure all works are carried out correctly in accordance with all health and safety standards/processes and in accordance of production planning.
  • To support in various required roles within the operations department when required.
  • To ensure consitent and accurate reporting of all activities including temporary repairs log via CMMS system
  • To promote and demonstrate proactive measures on ways of improvements of machines/equipment and/or processes.
  • To implement all basic preventative maintenance measures, ensuring all equipment is in a good state of repair.
  • Utilising optimum time availability to plan required/corrective actions when equipment not in use.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety and food safety standards at all times.
  • To support and deliver formal training to the wider operations team to make continuous improvements.
  • To have a pro-active approach to organisational down time by converting to uptime.
  • Daily start up, shut down, Changeover and running checks, Line patrols and improvement projects
  • Daily recording using CMMS system of works completed.
  • To be forward thinking look through daily and weeks plan to carry out tasks ahead of required schedule.
  • Ongoing improvements projects (Recorded)
  • Being the 'competent person’ having day to day control of site effluent including the manor and rate of operation ensuring environmental permit, variation of consent is achieved and monitored
  • Daily/weekly checks and record keeping, (Boilers, compressors, effluent, chemicals and utilities). Area patrols and improvement projects
  • Carrying out tasks such as but not exhaustive; Plumbing, Decorating, Basic electrical works, Mechanical tasks, Fabrication and Joinery.

Qualifications:

  • Right to work in United Kingdom

Experience:

  • Food handling experience
  • Knowledge of production lines/machines
  • Basic literacy skills
  • IT/PC skills
  • Ability to work as part of team and stand alone.
  • Apprenticeship / Technical background - level 2 NVQ or equivalent
  • Worked in food manufacturing

Skills, training or special knowledge

  • Good verbal and written English communication
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Level 2 Food Safety(provided by business)

Quality Assurance

Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.

Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.

Training

  • Participate in training where required.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training and instruction.
  • To be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to the HSE representative.
