We Care Bespoke are seeking an experienced and dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join a team in Gateshead.


This role involves overseeing the care planning and review process for children in care, The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, particularly in child protection and care planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chair and facilitate statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that care plans are effective, appropriate, and in the best interests of the child.
  • Monitor the implementation of care plans, ensuring that all actions are completed in a timely manner and that children's needs are being met.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in all decisions affecting their lives.
  • Work closely with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to care planning and review.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all reviews, decisions, and actions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies.

Qualifications and Skills
A degree in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England.
Experience: Significant experience in social work, particularly in child protection, care planning, and/or as an IRO.

Skills
Strong facilitation and chairing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and care planning and review.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in care.
