Our client, a leading company in the defense sector, is seeking a Technical Account Manager to join their customer-facing team. This pivotal role involves engaging with a diverse range of existing customers through established accounts, ongoing contracts, and ad-hoc requirements. The successful candidate will manage the delivery of technical services at customer sites and at the company’s factory, oversee the sale of both new and legacy products, and handle repair services for customer equipment.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of business principles related to pricing, gross profit margins, cost estimating, and cost accounting.
  • Technical knowledge to understand engineering work requirements, interface with engineers, and manage work packages.
  • Experience in project and operations management, particularly within a fast-paced SME environment.
  • Familiarity with the UK Defence & Security sector or the ability to adapt knowledge from similar fields such as Oil & Gas or Rail.
  • Energetic and resilient, capable of handling customer interactions and coping with rejection.
  • Effective time management and initiative in identifying and exploiting sales opportunities.
  • Managing all aspects of contractual relationships and customer interactions for repair workflows, legacy products, and other equipment.
  • Accountable for order intake and operational delivery, supporting major bids and fulfilling orders from initial engagement to completion.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Experience in the UK Defence & Security sector and providing contractual services to the UK public sector.
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role, managing multiple workflows, and understanding UK export control regulations.
  • Strong technical knowledge across various disciplines, particularly in managing obsolescence in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • No specific qualifications are required, though a significant knowledge base is necessary.
  • Desirable qualifications include an engineering or business qualification at level 5 or higher.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must hold a UK driving license and be willing to travel domestically or internationally as needed.
  • Must be capable of obtaining UK Security Clearance (SC).
