About the Role:

They are a dynamic company, and you will be part of a small but diverse team who are committed to high engineering standards and providing effective solutions to their clients. This is an opportunity to be immediately involved in key projects and to contribute to long term company development. Projects will range in size and duration from 4 weeks to 6 months and will be predominately for customers in the North East of England though there may be opportunities to work on-sites around the UK and Europe from time to time.

Main Duties:

  • Establish and maintain effective HSEQ management systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and work towards the achievement of relevant ISO standards
  • Prepare for and take the lead on external and internal audits and/or compliance visits from regulatory bodies
  • Address non-compliance matters in line with agreed timeframes
  • Identify areas for improvement within all management systems
  • Review, develop and implement relevant HSEQ policies and procedures to ensure risk is managed across the remit.
  • Co-ordinate a programme of risk assessment & internal audit ensuring follow up actions are taken within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Ensure a programme of statutory inspections are in place and up to date i.e. LOLER, PAT.
  • Ensure effective Contractor Management arrangements are in place to include site safety while working on site, Permit to Work etc.
  • Co-ordinate regular internal site inspections documenting and reporting on good practice, opportunities for improvement, relevant data sampling and readings
  • Co-ordinate and lead on any onsite emergencies with regards to both safety such as accidents, fire etc. and/or environmental incidents such as chemical spill, pollution to land/air etc.
  • Complete and document thorough accident and incident investigations to identify the root cause
  • Propose and implement suitable short and long resolutions to prevent recurrence
  • Track relevant information and complete trends analysis on a regular basis
  • Ensure governance of site Quality Management System (QMS), leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure operational compliance to product and process specifications
  • Promote a strong quality awareness culture throughout the business and initiating, encouraging, and measuring quality improvements
  • Manage the Customer Complaints process to ensure prompt resolution, investigation and establishment of root cause and preventative actions to the satisfaction of our customers
  • Co-ordinate relevant communication structures to ensure key objectives are agreed, communicated, and reviewed regularly e.g. H&S, Quality and Environmental Review Meetings.
  • Ensure the relevant Company personnel is provided with legal updates as necessary
  • Actively engage with employees across all areas of the business to promote positive progress towards achieving the relevant HSEQ standards.
  • Provide all new employees with HSEQ induction training relevant to their job role. Arrange ongoing refresher training as appropriate.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential

  • Experience in Quality Control, Project Management or Engineering
  • Experience of working with the requirements of ISO9001
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Demonstrable examples of quality and process improvements within a manufacturing business.
  • Experience and knowledge of managing QHSE within an engineering
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing

Desirable

  • Qualified to NEBOSH certificate level or above
  • Proven track record in delivering QHSE change management initiatives
