Cover Supervisor

GSL Education are seeking a motivated and reliable Cover Supervisor to join a dynamic school in Gateshead. If you have strong communication skills and enjoy working with young people, this role could be perfect for you!

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in managing classes during the absence of the regular teacher. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment, ensuring students remain engaged with the lesson plans provided, and assisting them in staying on track with their studies. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with teaching aspirations or those looking for flexibility within the education sector.

• Supervise secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students are following lesson plans and completing tasks.
• Maintain classroom discipline and a focused learning environment in line with the school’s policies.
• Assist students with academic tasks and ensure they stay on track with their work.
• Provide support to teachers by managing student behaviour, and ensuring all students are engaged and focused.
• Build strong relationships with students to promote a positive and respectful classroom environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and manage secondary-aged students.
• Experience working with secondary school students or in an educational setting is desirable, but not essential.
• A proactive, flexible approach to handling a variety of tasks and situations in the classroom.
• Ability to maintain positive behaviour management and create a structured learning environment.
• Enthusiastic about supporting student development and ensuring they meet their educational goals.
