Payroll SupervisorNigel Wright is currently supporting a Gateshead based organisation in their search for a Payroll Supervisor. This role requires an immediate start and offers great flexibility. Due to the immediate nature of this requirement, this will be a temporary to permanent arrangement. Job RoleThe main duties and responsibilities will be: 
  • Providing expert advice and support to the Finance Director, Head of HR and HR Business Partners to assist them with making decisions concerning employee contracts, payments and changes.
  • Providing expert advice and solutions to pension and payroll queries to staff at all levels
  • Providing specific technical advice to employees in respect of their workplace pension.
  • Responsibility for ensuring adherence to pension scheme regulations in relation to Auto-enrolment and Reporting Requirements, including assisting with the production of reports in line with statutory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a range of fit for purpose, legally complaint frameworks with policies that serve the business agenda and processes. 
  • Participate and manage key projects, utilising project management skills and techniques, managing risks, and opportunities to ensure successful delivery and engagement.
  • Responsible for the day to running of the payroll function for the College and the subsidiaries.
  • Responsibility for timely processing of part-time and casual timesheets, staff mileage, expenses and any other non-salaried payroll payments.
  • Calculate and process any payroll adjustments required
  • Maintenance of accurate and auditable payroll records on iTrent payroll system.
  • Support the Finance Manager and other members of the team by providing payroll information and guidance where necessary.
  • Any other duties, as required, appropriate to the scale of the post.
The CandidateTo be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrate confidence in dealing with a wide range of managers, staff and external organisations.
  • Proven and up-to-date understanding of all payroll and statutory requirements and regulations
  • Attention to detail and keen analytical skills.
  • Committed to delivering outstanding customer service
  • Demonstrate confidence in the use of IT and have a good knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the Payroll lifecycle including preparation, processing and closing down pay runs
  • Ability to motivate and coach individuals to deliver outstanding Payroll service.
