The Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting primary school students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your empathy, dedication, and skills will help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of individual students.
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and parents.
- Encourage positive behavior and help students develop essential life skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and effective educational experience for students.
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs and helping them overcome challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of students.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic educational environment.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
